DO YOU LIKE TO HAVE FUN? The philosophy of the Casco Bay Regional YMCA's swim team revolves around the core values of the YMCA: Respect, Honesty, Caring, and Responsibility.
Competitive swimming enables students to learn valuable life long skills, such as a strong work ethic, team work, healthy eating habits and the importance of regular exercise, to name a few. The best part is, you will have lots of fun while doing it!

Everybody Swims. Everybody Wins!

DO YOU LIKE TO SWIM? Are you 7 years old or older as of 12/1/09 and able to comfortably swim 25 yards of Front Crawl with Rotary Breathing and 25 Yards Back Crawl ; witch is the length of our large pool?  If you can, you should come join the fun! There are no minimum practice requirements, so you can make this experience best fit your interest and needs.

Summer 2009 Sessions:

May 11 - June 12, 2009
June 15 - July 17, 2009

Practice Times & Meets

For the first week of each session, all 10 years old and under swimmers please come Mon, Wed & Fri 4 -5pm.

All 11 years old and older swimmers please come Mon, Wed & Fri 5-6:30pm as well as Tues & Thur 4-5:30pm.

After the first week swimmers may be asked to switch practice groups depending on ability as well as numbers.

Over the course of the summer program there may be 2 optional fun meets with other area swim teams.

Program Fees:

YMCA Members:  
10 & under $190 both sessions / $110 one session
11 & Older $250 both sessions / $135 one session
   
Non-Members:  
10 & under $230 both sessions / $135 one session
11 & Older $290 both sessions / $160 one session

Multiple sessions and sibling discounts must be done at the time of the original registration. Sibling discount registration must be done at the YMCA.

YMCA Membership prices are:

Youth: $228 annual / $19 monthly draft
Single Adult Family $720 annual / $60 monthly draft
Family $876 annual / $73 monthly draft

Payment is due with registration. Registration and payment will be received at the Casco Bay YMCA front desk or online.  

The Casco Bay YMCA mission states that “no one will be turned away due to inability to pay.” Financial assistance is available for those in need of this support. See the front desk for an application.

USA Swimming: For those wanting more opportunities to swim in meets, a 2009 summer seasonal membership is $32.50 (see Coach Dan to pay this). There are per event and meet fees also. The fees are around $2-4 per event at USA Swimming meets. With the championship meet being held July 23-26 in St. John, NB Canada! See the team handbook for more details or see Coach Dan.

Our Coach

During his 6 years as the Stripers' Head coach, Coach Dan has brought together a team of over 135 swimmers. Stripers range in their ability from beginner to YMCA National Championship Meet qualifiers. Coach Dan prides himself on the relationships he builds with every swimmer, no matter what ability level they are. His main focus is to keep the FUN in swimming while working on stroke refinement, endurance, and dry-land training.
