Cumberland County YMCA Annual Report 2006 - 2007

What a difference a year makes! The 2006-2007 fiscal year brought growth and focus throughout our association.

Greater Portland Branch: The Grand "Re-Opening" of the Greater Portland Branch not only opened new doors to the facility, it opened new doors to the community. As a result, we celebrate a 31% increase in membership and, more importantly, we commit ourselves to serving over 700 more individuals through programs ranging from fitness and wellness to education and resident services. We are proud to serve this diverse community.

Casco Bay Branch: This past year's focus at the Casco Bay Branch has been to answer the welcomed dilemma of a facility "busting at the seems". And we have succeeded. We are within reach of our $2,000,000 capital campaign that will fund a small addition onto the facility. In fact, construction has started! This addition will enable us to better serve our members through programs that mirror their lifestyles. In conjunction with this, we will enhance our Signature Adaptive Services Program that serves over 300 individuals each year that are living with illnesses, injuries, and physical, emotional, or intellectual challenges.

Pineland Branch: The Pineland Branch enjoyed continued steady membership growth and building relationships with more and more of the community. The Pineland Branch also began overseeing the Otter Pond Day Camp and expanding its programs. The 2nd annual Ultra Trail Challenge took place this summer on the 25-plus kilometers of cross country trails at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester and included 50K and 25K races with 325 runners!

We are also concluding a Strategic Planning Process that was lead by board member Beth Rodenberger. Our focus: Volunteerism, Financial Development, Image, and Growth. We look forward to presenting our long term plan in the near future and reporting beginning results in next year's annual report.
